Quality of Telecom Work.. :(

I also asked for the external ETP to be a box that allowed for two conduits ( i have future conduit for fibre or whatever is required as it runs under concrete and they sit side by side), the guy just had a basic single conduit box that wouldnt fit properly over the the hole where the cables come out of the house, didnt want him to drill that into the bricks as i want a larger one installed correctly. anyone know where i can get a larger ETP box from? i'll just do it myself i already replaced a poorly bent green telecom conduit because some muppet was too lazy to use a proper 90 deg bend.

Firstly i would agree the quality of the workmanship is crap - i have seen subcontractors loose their accreditaion for less.

But just to settle some confusion over who is who in these cases

Chorus arent not subcontractors for Telecom

Chorus independent and are one of the two main copper network operators in the CHCH area (telstraclear/Vodafone being the other)

Telecom have requested a network connection from Chorus for Telecom to use to provided services from Telecom to the end user via this connection

There are two Network Service Companys working in the CHCH area for Chorus - they are Transfeild Services and Downer NZ

Depending on which part of CHCH you live in depends on which company is responcible for the network operations (build, Installation and maintainance)

On to the ETP - The ETP when placed on the end of the chorus conduit forms part of the Chorus network and there are currently only 2 types installed - both only have a single entry for 20mm ID telecomunication conduit.

If you want to change this to something else it is up to you (the end user) - you could buy a box from an electrical wholesaler that would fit over two conduits but dont forget that electrical conduit is 20mm OD so the fittings are not compatable with telecomunication conduits - plumbing presure pipe is the same size but termination fittings are completely different - the chorus ETPs have moulded fittings to suit.
