Got VDSL installed today, initially was getting about 15 down and 10 up. Previously with DSL I was getting 8 down and nearly 1 up I was fairly pleased with this result, download not that great but twice as fast as what I had before and very happy with the upload. But then the tech came back a few hours later to install a new faceplate (I think that is what it is called) and when I did a speedtest later I am now only getting 8 down and 9 up.

What could cause this sudden reduction in the download? Surely changing the faceplate wouldn't make that much difference? The tech mentioned that it takes 48 hours for the connection to properly configure itself, and then a further 2 weeks for it to settle to the speeds you'll get going forward.

Is there any point in ringing Telecom now, or will they just tell me to wait 2 days/weeks.

After 3 visits by Chorus the culprit was found, the faceplate the first Chorus guy put on was the issue. Now getting 21 down and still 10 up, which is quite an improvement over ADSL.

One question though, now that it's taken two weeks for my issue to be sorted do I need to get Telecom to reset the dynamic line management side of things?
