Hi @BigPipeNZ

Is there an ETA for Bigpipe UFB in Kapiti? My guess is between July 2016/November 2016.

Thanks

It wouldn't surprise me if Bigpipe (along with a lot of other ISPs) never entered the Kapiti market - the economics simply don't stack up for a handover with Vodafone having such a huge market share there with the cable network. This is discussed in depth in quite a few other threads discussing this very issue.

If Chorus launch tail extensions for UFB this may change.

Just to cover off an official answer from us. It is this.

No plans to get a special handover for Kapiti - it's simply too expensive for us to justify it. So it would be at least 12 months away, probably more.

If TES (tail extension service) for UFB ever happens, we likely will do it then, as we won't need to invest in a handover, but not sure when that might be (maybe this year, maybe not)

Now that there's an official answer I don't feel like I'm sidetracking the thread too much by asking this :)

Any chance of Whakatane? Obviously our population is less than that of Kapiti, but it appears at a glance that the economics may be better here (simply based on the fact that we already have more ISP choices than Kapiti does).

No immediate plans for any further roll out beyond what we already have

We now have handovers in:

Auckland

Wellington

Dunedin

Christchurch

Palmerston North

Hamilton.
