This might sound odd but last weekend I switched to Skinny Mobile.
Ever since then I have noticed increased power drain on my Samsung S3.
Not as far as I know doing anything different.??
Is this technically possible.
I have a spare battery so will change it to see if I notice a difference.

Funny, whenever I've tried a skinny/XT sim in my iPhone 4 I found the battery drain was a lot less than vodafone/2degrees

Did you use the Samsung SIII with Telecom before? Or better yet, did you buy it from Telecom or bought it  from Vodafone / 2degrees or somewhere else?

If this handset did not come from a Telecom store then it needs to be correctly configured with Fast Dormancy disabled.

Having said that, you should really check the Samsung SIII tips and tricks discussion in our Android subforum.

Could be a location thing too, where is your local XT/skinny tower compared to VF,
