Hi,

A while back, shortly after skinny launched, but I can't remember exactly when, I purchased a Skinny phone from Dick Smith.  Admittedly it is just for emergency purposes for when I travel outside the 2degrees coverage area.  The box came with the phone (U2800) and the SIM - this is the only skinny SIM that we have and the phone and the SIM were purchased at the same time.

After you have had the phone for 9 months you are supposed to be able to unlock the phone for free.  I wanted to do this so that I could use a local SIM when I travel to Australia next week.  When I login to the Skinny website I can see that I was making calls in January of this year, but it won't let me unlock the phone for free.

I called Skinny support and was basically told that the online tool was correct.  He could see that I had made calls in January, but said that it could be from a different phone, and he couldn't see that the phone that I wanted to unlock was the one I used the SIM in.  I told him that I had the box with both the SIM number and IEMI number on them which shows that I bought the SIM and the phone at the same time, and that I could email a photo if he liked.

He said that he would see what he could do and ring me back.  Still waiting (about 3 hours later) for the call back.

Anyone else had unlocking issues with Skinny?
