Years ago we were one of the first off the block to get Telecom Broadband (ADSL). Previously used dial-up. As a back-up I kept the dial-up account, and opened the ADSL account under my wife's login. Her Email address is the primary.

Now that BB is reliable I want to close off the dial-up but if I do I lose my precious Email address. I am not allowed to transfer my existing xtra Email address over the BB account as one of the 10 sub-accounts that we pay for (and currently do not use).

So as well as paying $129 per month for the 500GB Broadband plan, Telecom is forcing me to also pay for an old plan I never ever use just to keep my Email address valid.

Pretty rude if you ask me!

Other than moving to use my Gmail or Hotmail web accounts as my main address (and hoping my 200+ contacts will remember) has anybody else found a solution to this?

Don't go throwing around the term mate there John... you still owe me a beer I am sure :)

However in all seriousness, that sounds rather unusual as you can move Xtra accounts onto the correct DSL account and not be charged for just keeping the xtra account. Email me "pl at telecom.co.nz" with all your details and I will pass it through to the broadband team that should be able to sort this out.

Bold could be the issue, if it's what I think it. Is is this a sub account that you want transfered and made a main account?

Or are you trying to turn a main account into a sub account?
