Hi there.

I stay in West Auckland.

Last night, almost all of the West Auckland area got hit with widespead power outages.

When our power went out last night, I tried to use my phone, to phone Vector, to find out what's going on, however my phone kept on disconnecting, and cutting off, and our house isn't really that great on signal, but that's never happened before.

I had to walk up the road a little bit, to get a reliable signal, even then it was still cutting out.

I was intending to tether my phone, to my laptop to get internet, so I could read up what the issue was.

My data service wasn't working at all, even though "3G", and "H+" were coming up on the handset.

Anybody know why that issue was there, if that's there, because the cell towers were on backup batteries, that still shouldn't happen.

Thanks

And you know how good coverage / usage is during a sports event.  Add into that power outages (so cell-sites go into low power mode rather than working at full power so they can last 8-12 hours) and crazy weather (which never helps those poor radio waves go through the air).

So it doesn't surprise me at all.
