Hey there

I've been planning on shifting across as the end of my current monthly cycle (umm, could have worded that more carefully!) from the $19 2 degrees plan to Skinny's equivalent $16 plan (push=poor reception; pull=cheaper price).

When I checked out their website last week I def. read of a deal where the first month was free, however I can't find anything on this at all.
Can anyone confirm if this is still available and, if so, how I ensure I can get it? I'm wondering if it expired yesterday or may expire at the end of the month or financial uear (ie, today). Of course, there may be some new carrot tomorrow

Great - will this just happen automatically as part of the porting process? Or is there something I need to do to ensure this?

Once your number is ported you'll get a $16 credit on your account, which can take up to 3 business days - usually quicker.

However, you still need to pay for the first month if you want to use your phone immediately due to the porting latency. Plus, you'll need to register your phone online for the porting the process (one email address per number).

That's how things went for me anyhow.

When you fill in the port request form there is a box to tick to say that you would like to take up this offer. If you are already on a $16, $30 or $40 monthly Combo when we come to do the port then we will credit your account $16. If not we will add the Combo for you.

And now for a dumb question: how the @#$ do I purchase a SIM card online? I know I can buy them at the supermarket, but I can't see them for sale on the Skinny website. The FAQ on purchasing a SIM takes one to a page with only phones and no mention of SIMs!

Is it that I have to go through the sign-up process and elect to port my number etc to be given the choice to purchase a SIM?

I wanted to organise the SIM prior to the porting, as I'm wanting to ensure I have the former well before my current cycle ends. But, I want to ensure the porting happens close to the end of my current cycle, so will do that closer to the cycle ending...

From the homepage, if you click on Phones then you will get three more options on the orange bar underneath for Handsets, iPhones or SIMs.

If you click on SIMs then it takes you to the store where you can choose which type of SIM you need.

Yeah, my comment re coverage was that it was a push factor, ie the factor that was pushing me away from staying with 2 Degrees, whose coverage I find patchy (at work 3G reception is close to non-existent on my side of the building, and this is in an urban area in a flat city [PN]); I understand I should expect better things from the Skinny/Telecom network.

Yep, my phone (Xperia SP) is compatible; I ensured it would work with all networks at the time of purchase. I'm planning on ordering a SIM off the website, now I know the location of this!
