Received an email on the 2nd of July from Telecom Static IP team to confirm that the static IP request has now been completed and all I will need to do is reboot the router for this to take effect - cool, this is all I expected to do.
I call the facility that I had the static IP assigned to and get them to reboot the router, once the connection comes up I get them to check their IP address by typing what is my IP in google, its not the address in the email. No worries, we'll give it 24 hours and try again tomorrow.
Call up the next day, reboot the router, check the IP.. still isn't what I told it would be.
Call Telecom, get the run around for 30 minutes, phone call ends with my problem still not fixed.. Oh well.. I have a Cisco router on back order that wont arrive for another 2 weeks that we'll be using as a VPN termination point.. maybe it will magically fix itself by then.
Router arrived monday, configure and send it down.. get a phone call today "Our modem thingy has arrived!" Get them to reboot their current modem to make sure their static IP is now working - NAH!
Call the number I was given in the email if I need support with my static IP, spoke to two people that said they couldn't help, transferred around.. on hold for ages, finally get someone that says he can help but clearly does NOT want to help..
"Our system shows that the line has been assigned with the ip xxx.xx.xxx.xxx"
Yeah that what I was told it would be, but its not
"The systems here tells me that it is"
well, its not.
"I cant help you if you don't want to believe me"
umm? I want to believe you but its not!
"Well the only thing you can do if you're not happy with it is to reapply for another one since my system shows that its been assigned"
Now i'm frustrated... I don't want to reapply for another one fix this one.. then he starts getting pissed at me! I tell him that if I have to OK I will.. he then tells me he cant help and that I have to do it online.. ffs.. when I originally got it setup I called up and spoke to someone on the phone!
I had to re sign this facility for another 24 months to get this static IP now I regret it and should have just moved them on onto Telstra along with all of our other facilities
Is this all true? Is there nothing that can be done to get this sorted? other than reapplying for another IP?
Thanks,
DT
