Hi,

I have recently bought a second hand treo 600, and was having a few issues related to its plan. There seems to be a bit of controversy as to what plans it can or cannot be put on. Some claim to have it on prepay, i was told i could put it on a Go Onebill Mates rates plan...but apparently that is still a prepaid billing system and so my phone isnt able to be activated. My question is are there some sort of work around to get a prepaid-type plan? Or something similar

Also the external ringtone speaker doesnt seem to work; anyone know about this problem?

You can put it on any postpaid (account) plan that you are eligible to have, including Go Onebill Mates Rates.

You cannot put it on prepaid. There are some PDAs on prepaid, they are anomalies, and they do not have any bearing on current business rules.

they are all post-paid though, correct? I signed up for the last one, but am still not able to use the phone. Basically I rang up and was told that that plan still used a prepaid billing system or something...

Would I be unable to access email/the web under any particular plan?

Also the phone was certainly not advertised as having ext speaker problems, though iam loathe to send it back....even more wasted time and money.

One bill works by charging you like prepay, but instead of paying as you use it, you pay at the end of the month along with your Telecom Homeline bill.

Its handy if you don't want to have to go to the shop all the time to buy a topup card, or need to access data.

All of these Onebill plans allow you to subscribe to data yes

The Treo 600 is a very old phone now anyway, how much did you pay for it?

it was $175, though it came with a 512 SD and close to $100 worth of software (not that its all usefull though). I love the phone, nice design, good condition and the keyboard is great. Wouldnt mind a 650, one or two of those going for similar prices, but I decided to go the buy now option with this phone. Apparently the speaker thing happens to 650s alot, its not actually a hardware issue per say, something about the headset jack thinking its still plugged in. Apparently theres some software that can fix it, which is why I would be interested in anyone else with this problem.

Anyway,so my question is, if I am on a onebill mates rates plan - why is the phone not working and why are telecom telling me this plan is not viable?

Go Onebill is fine for any PDA device. If it's not working the phone may not have been programed (or incorrectly). Just take it to your local dealer and they will programe the device for you.
