So, I got the Spark fibre switch letter a week or so ago. However, when my fibre was connected, they never did any of the prep work for voice, so I'm not 100% sure how the config works. Are they using the voice ports on the fibre ONT, or running it off of the fibre modem? Just trying to figure out how hard it will be to hook the wiring up... I have a semi completed structured cabling solution that I'll use the opportunity to switch the phone wiring over to, and will rip out the old phone cabling at the same time.

VoF is delivered over the ONT POTS port 1.

In theory there should already be a dial tone on the port which just plays a "Thank you for calling the test line" message.

Then the cut over process is to connect up your home line number in place of the test line in the back end. At this point you can make outbound calls from VoF using your home phone number, but all inbound calls are still to PSTN. Cut over the internal wiring from PSTN to VoF. Then call a 0800 number to switch over the PSTN network from the PSTN connection to the VoF line so all inbound calls should now be on VoF. Then disconnect your PSTN line.

Fantastic, thanks - I'll get down with an old phone and give it a try!

The dial-tone will only be on the port after an order has been placed for VoF, that is, it's not there by default.

If Broadband was provisioned after mid-August last year and are on Chorus then the ATA was enabled by Chorus by default and you should be getting a dial tone connected to the test service. Chorus are also progressively turning on the ATA across all lines.
