I am thinking about ditching my ADT monitored alarm and getting Morepork setup but wanted to hear from people who already have one first

So do you have Morepork installed at your home or business and how do you find it?

yup I have it at home,   Installed alongside my Magellan MG5050 Alarm system.

its quite a good little product I find,  its essentially a rebadged QOLSYS IqPanel2.   Dead simple to setup and install.   only the video camera requires any wiring of any sort.   Does what it says it does on the box.   no complaints.  happy to answer any questions about it.

Another home user here.

I use it in conjunction with my existing alarm as well - not due to any particular need, but rather because there isn't any need not to. Just gives me a few extra motion sensor points that were already setup than I would've otherwise had from the Morepork base kit alone.

Pretty happy with it overall - the app that drives it can do some pretty smart things with alerting, e.g., can configure it to let you know if you've not set the alarm by a certain time of day, then can just flip it on from the app if you actually did forget when you left the house etc.

Good to hear positive feedback.

Still very keen on it - just initial investment holding me back.

Great to hear. I thought there might be a few complaints but good to hear everything is positive. I think I will definitely be signing up

Just remember that when it comes time to renew your insurance, you read the terms and conditions of the alarm discount qualification carefully. Some insurers require that alarms be affixed systems that are installed by a qualified technician. There are also clauses (such as in mine) that monitoring must be conducted by a professional company.

That's no slight on the Morepork solution, it's just a few points to watch out for when dealing with insurance companies!

Hi All,

Just a heads up that a few moments ago we kicked off an offer where the starter kit price has been halved :)

If the upfront cost was holding you back, now is the time. The offer is available until the 23/12/15.

Have a great break!

Morepork.

Does anyone know if you have two broadband providers/lines in your house (one with Spark, one with another ISP) and connect Morepork to the second line/ISP, it still works?

Thanks

Hmmmmmmmmmmm,

Why would you bother if you already have an alarm? Seems to be a bit of double up and you cannot access your already installed alarm.

Morepork doesn't care which ISP it is being used on. As long as it has internet will be fine.

You only need the Spark broadband account number to buy it.

Do the deferred payments go on the broadband statement or a separate one?

As far as I'm aware Morepork isn't fully exclusive to Spark anymore - can have a look at the website or have a chat to the Morepork team about it.

Deferred payments go on your Morepork bill, on top of your monthly plan.

I've been using Morepork for a while and it's pretty good - does what we want it to. We had it setup in our kitchen so that if someone in the flat left their dishes on the kitchen bench instead of in the dishwasher the image sensor would take a photo of them.

The self monitoring fee seems high considering I currently pay $35 for professional monitoring now.

You are paying for 3G connectivity, plus platform hosting costs, plus storage of videos and photos, plus profit margin.
