Due to BigPipe using CGNAT (Carrier grade NAT/NAT444/Large scale NAT), users do not get a unique IP address. Does this make the users safe from being sent an infringement notice for copyrighted file sharing?

My thinking is that because many people share the same IP address, then the outside world(pirate hunters) could not tell between the individual users(except for the port), and that if an infringement was sent, BigPipe would not be able do anything about it due to this.
I believe that a notice could possibly still be sent in the case that BigPipe records what users were using what port and could make a match with that.

Could someone please clarify my thought on this situation? Has anyone using BigPipe(not using a static address) ever received a notice?

Because SWIM has received 2 infringements. I want to recommend SWIM to use BigPipe, but only if my thinking is correct.

I did some research into NAT444 when I first joined BigPipe and it made me curious to how the network ran. I am wondering because if the case is true, then if someone on the internet wanted to track you, DDOS or was trying to scan for open ports, this provides a level of security. If the 'pirate police' fail to be able to send you infringement notices, then I doubt Joe Bloggs will be able to identify you through the internet.

If you have changed ISPs then it will be the first warning on the new ISP, I have not had any and jump on some pretty popular stuff from the pirate bay, which I would expect is being enforced. Also let a friend use a PC on the network here for downloading since hes on a conklin and no idea what hes getting and also no warnings.

The music industry is the only one issuing notices iirc. Stop downloading the latest popular music from torrents and the problem goes away. If you really want to get it without paying there are other ways that do not use torrents and are therefore not covered by the law. If you keep using torrents after a warning then you are an idiot and deserver whatever is coming to you if you persist.

Please note that I am not condoning or condemning getting the music for free. I am just condemning stupidity when doing so.

I only get my music from what, and via a seedbox so I keep ratio so that may partially explain it. Music is such a mess on public trackers with crappy re-encodes and "scene" BS with messed up filenames and tags so I dont know why people bother with it.

Just to clarify. I have never received an infringement notice. I'm just wondering how the network works and I think the best 'real world' explanation to this, for the purpose of easy understanding, would be copyright infringement as it is known by internet users, unlike NAT444 which I believe would have got little if any response.

Interesting thought, I can only assume BigPipe may have to keep a history of NAT translations in the same way other ISPs would keep track of who had a given IP address at a point in time? But that would result in a huge amount of data

It is highly likely that any ISP using CGNAT keeps a history of who had which IP address which can be queried by law enforcement personnel. To continue would be foolish.

2 notices, and the need to torrent 'naked' is still there? Why? Just get VPN or something and be done with it.
