Hey guys, brand new to this forum but I can't seem to find anywhere else to talk about this.

Whenever I download a file I always see the download speeds plummet.

This is usually about 5-10 minutes into any download and I can't seem to find a fix for it.

I have tried contacting spark but they gave me the same dull questions that everyone has already done: "Turn off the router for 30s etc."

I can't find any reason as to why it starts of good then hits rock bottom.

Current plan is unlimited fiber 100/20 and i am currently getting 3mbp/s and 20upload.

Anyone know why this may be happening?

Cheers,

emjaay.

Your speed vs other computer's speed. If other computer sends files at 100Mbps and 100,000 other computers want the file at the same time ...

The file is World of Warcraft and it usually downloads at around 6MB/s. After 15 or so minutes it drops to 200kb/s on wifi. Don't have a Ethernet cable to test the speeds.

Plan is 100dl/20up

Idk what the host is most likely just blizzard servers.

Do you have issues downloading other non WOW files?

I had a similar problem with steam games downloading slowly, and I could manually change the servers which fixed the issue.

This is for all downloads. After a while the download picks back up but as soon as I try downloading again it just dies.

Speedtest shows around 3mbps/s with upload staying consistent, starting to get to the point where I want to switch providers as this has been happening for weeks now.

I doubt it's Spark. If it was there would be a very public outcry over it.

I strongly suggest getting an ethernet cable, they are a few dollars, and try using that as a troublehooting step.

Do you use a download manager?

Try grabbing an ISO from there. Same thing happen?

Ok you really need to post your router stats. ie what speed your router is connected to spark at. it should be 100Mbps/20Mbps.

Note: capital B (byte) = 8 x little b (bit)

1MBps = 8Mbps

How would I go about posting router stats? Just the WiFi page of my router?

I know the difference between bytes and bits btw :)

And for the question above I cannot use a Ethernet cable as the other people in my house don't like the idea of me having a cable going down the hall.

Also the ISO still grinds to a halt.

One more thing make sure you have factory reset your router at least once since you've had it. All my Huawei routers that play up gets fixed with a factory reset!

Alright, tried the factory reset and it's still 100% slow. Sitting at 2mbp/s at the moment :/

Are you sure? Please double check your units as you seem to be getting them mixed up. 2mb/s is essentially zero throughput - do you mean 2Mb/s, or perhaps even 2MB/s?

it sounds like the simple issue is your room is too far from the router :)
