hi Bigpiple:

I sent a query via your website checking compatibility of my current modem with your fibre plans

your team first reply was really fast, less than 24 hours for sure

but the answer was yes your modem works with our basic, fast, turbo plan......

however if you look at your website, fibre plans are starter, pro, elite..... so I fired a reply back asking if that will still work

and 24 hours now still no reply.... so checking here see if I can get a quicker response please

my current modem is a Fritz!box 7340.

thanks

A 7340 can do 100Mbps sweet as but I would think it would struggle majorly with 1Gbps... actually thinking about it, i think they only have 100Mbps ports. Also average wireless. I think you would want the 7560 which has AC wireless etc.... in which case just get the Huawei from Bigpipe.

I was going to signup from their website and got the check your modem option there so thats why

@chev

I dont use the friz!box for wireless, it just acting as a bridge between the fibre modem and my in-house router

the friz!box lives in the garage cabinet.....

Why don't you just ditch the Fritzbox altogether? There is no need to bridge the ONT to a router, just connect it directly.

hi thats because we have a switch also in the cabinet which connects to various LAN ports to different room walls

,comes with the new house.

so it was setup by Chorus when first time fibre connected, FROM ONT to 7340 then 4 cables to 4 ports on the switch.

Also Bigpipe, your customer service agent replied to me that my 7340 wont work and I had to pay for a HG659, guess what

before the HG659 arrives I got switched to Bigpipe...... so instead of sitting there without internet I tried to use the 7340

to connect, it WORKS!!!!

Plus I paid I think $49 for fibre connection / installation, $14 for courierpost of the HG659, when it arrived apparently I

have to put it into the cabinet and connect everything....... so I guess $49 is purely for connection

Furthermore I put in a promo code for switching ISP at time of signup and get first 2 months free, then I got an email telling me that I will be

billed, emailed you guys got a prompt response says I didn't enter the promo code..... but praise for CSR to put it in for me for next two months

still, I am 100% sure I put in the promo code at the time, maybe I need to start taking screenshots of every form I submit from now on.....

anyway, rants over, I am pretty happy with Bigpipe's connection speed etc, no problem so far,  thanks Bigpipe.

Just connect your switch to one of the LAN ports on whatever router you are already using.

Connecting all four ports from the router to a switch will create all manner of issues - I'm surprised anything works at all like that.

OP is referring to a patch panel rather than a switch.

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.
