Today my Skinny HG659 refuses to let me log in to the web admin even after a factory reset but it still works as a gateway to Voyager VDSL.

Tried 2 different Win 10 computers and also booting up with Ubuntu... No luck... Using wired Lan connection.

I was with Skinny for 15 months and moved to Voyager in March this year to get away from CGnat.

Tried an older Spark HG630b and log in to admin is ok.

Not sure if there is a bug causing a problem when using Voyager settings, but I would have thought a factory reset would have fixed that.

Skinny T&Cs say the HG659 has a 24 month warranty, but the Skinny Chat help guy says this warranty is now void.

I did pay up front for this HG659 and I was with Skinny for 15 months.

I should just add also that the HG659 does not even serve up the login page....

Since my Skinny HG659 had effectively lost its admin login, I decided to try and unbrick it.

Found unbrick instructions on GZ and links to Spark and Bigpipe firmware.

Ended up successfully using Bigpipe firmware as it had the same version number as the original Skinny firmware.

So, it remains a mystery as to how the HG659 lost admin access while still able to connect to the internet.

You didn't do anything stupid like opening up web access and exposing it to the Internet?

I have been playing about with an IIS IPv6 web server..... as part of my HE IPv6 Certification.

Set up ACL and DMZ on the HG659 for the server computer.

Set up ICMPv4 and ICMPv6 also on the HG659.

Not sure if these would have set up the HG659 for an attack.

Did not set up any forwarding for IPv4 access. (Have read your previous posts on this :-)

Which web access are you referring to?

Two other similar reports have been found on an internet search.
It seems that an HG659 factory reset was the solution.

In my case, replacement firmware was loaded.
The cause of the loss of access to the HG659 Management Console is still unknown.

It appears the Huawei routers are on the list with VPNFilter issues.... Maybe that is what affected my HG659...
