Hey Geekzone,

We’ve been listening to feedback from our customers and are happy to announce a new UFB offering on Bigpipe:

Our new Expert plan, with up to 100Mbps upload and 100Mbps download speeds for $89/month.

This plan is available now, to both new and existing customers. If you're already connected with us and want to get sharing, just log in to your dashboard at www.bigpipe.co.nz/login and submit a plan change request.

Happy to answer any queries on the new plan. :)

Cheers,

The Bigpipe People

Awesome, about time one of the more mainstream ISP's recognised the merit in providing faster upload speeds in the 100Mbit/s plan class. I moved to UnlimitedInternet a couple of years ago because there were almost zero other offerings. Well done BigPipe. I hope this becomes a more widespread choice amongst ISP's.

Well done Bigpipe - I am one of those people who thinks fast upload is more of a game-changer than fast download and have been very frustrated with the lack of a middle ground between 20mbps and 500mbps in the UFB landscape.

If you're interested in hosting your own services, this plan for $89 (and $40 one-off for static IP) seems like one of the best values in the market.

Just to clarify, those of us currently on the Enable special offer (200 Mbps Download) would have to relinquish our bonus 100 down if we switch to this offer?

Correct. If you switch to our Expert plan your line will run at up to 100/100Mbps, regardless of who the LFC in your area is.

Would have definitely changed to this, if I hadn't just moved to another ISP ...

I’m pretty sure I’m gonna move across from Spark to BigPipe for this specific plan - I want better upload than 20Mbit without having to pay for some insane theoretical maximum download, so the expert plan is ideal and just what I’m looking for.

A couple of questions before I do:

- I understand BP doesn’t do vlan tagging so I’ll need to turn this off on my HG659b (or use their supplied modem). Others have mentioned specifically asking for vlan tagging to be enabled when I apply - is this a good idea, or not?

- I know it’s not an easy question to answer, but is it safe to assume that with BP I’m not gonna get silly peak hour congestion? My speeds decrease at peak on Spark UFB (100/20) but it’s never enough to be noticeable in real world usage, so I don’t mind. I just want to make sure I won’t be going backwards.

- I get a unique public IP address these days with BP, right? No more CG-NAT?

- Is the customer referral $20 credit still a thing? If it is, does anyone have a referral link for me?

Cheers!

Cgnat was dropped when they moved onto our core :)

If you want the switch to be transparent it might pay to ask for it to be tagged.
Honestly doesn't matter though.
Many go without and default is without as quite a few devices still struggle with tagging even...
Makes for an easy plug and play.

Through the core and out to the Internet your basically like any other spark service. There is no special routing or Separated pipe etc.

Any chance Spark will also be offering this type of product (100/100) too?
