I have a standard Samsung Galaxy S21 with Spark and Vodafone SIMs installed.

I am having a recurring problem whereby I get a notification saying there is no SIM installed. Looking at the Spark SIM it probably needs replacement because I can see lines on the contacts.

So I was thinking of just doing away with it and migrating to E-sim.

If I do this will I lose dual SIM functionality?

Dual SIM will work the same if you swap 1 SIM over to eSIM. Or just request a new pSIM from Spark.

Thanks for that. I will go into the store tomorrow and get it sorted.

I have no idea why they need this. I thought the whole idea of E-sim was to avoid this.

Ha - at least an eSIM can't wear out ;) but this is pretty rare for SIMs.

As your phone can do dual pSIM - I would stick with that - as it still gives you the most flexibility. If you wanna avoid a SIM ever getting damaged again - or prefer the security of eSIM (a thief can't just remove it) then go eSIM. Either way - you can always reverse / go back to how you had it.

Word of warning that I ran into is you cant have 2 Live E-Sims you can have a number of e-sims loaded but only 1 can be live at a time.

You can have 1 Physical Sim and 1 E-Sim live though

I have just found out the physical SIM card in this configuration must be in slot #1.
