I would put money on it you're credit will be transfered. Telecom did this from TDMA (025) to CDMA (027).

cheers!

another question about prepaid!
will prepaid still be dealt with prepay helpdesk in manilla? or has telecom created a new team based in nz!?
i would think with the launch of the new network they would base it in nz for a better customer experience, etc.

I don't know, but I do know that customer experience of NZ call centres vs manilla is pretty much the same.

As I understand it there will be no changes to how you choose to contact Telecom, FYI credit belongs to the phone number not the handset, as for customer experiance most people are quite happy with current setup, you can call 123, 333, over the internet or call into a store. You dont always get manilla when calling, lastly a lot of services will now be able to be accessed from the wap menu of your phone

I can confirm that when you transfer from CDMA to WCDMA you will not loose your prepaid balance.

Neal, regarding your APN blog post, it says this:

All customers are provisioned and have access to "wap", "internet", "direct" and "oa" APN's.

Does that include prepaid customers?

Hamish, as far as I know Telecom stores will be able to do the transfer for you.
At least they did when I last bought a phone.

I have the same phone as you... can't wait to dump it and get a new one.

your txt balance is not affected, even if you upgraded during the month, as for the contacts yes this can be transfered to the new telecom sim however there is a limitation of 500 contacts with 5 numbers per contact, ie mobile, home, work, fax, etc

Haha, been so long since I've ever worried about this. THanks to things like activesync all your cotnacts, calendar etc. synchronize with your exchange (or other) server so if you get a new phone as soona s you configure your activesync they'd all appear.

And didn't realize that SIM cards still hold contacts/SMS?

It would be great if they could give Prepaid better service now they are starting out fresh. eg. decent mobile broadband plans such as vodafone introduced (by decent i mean by NZ standards), and letting data devices on prepaid in the first place (rant rant rant)

No kidding. After I ported to Telecom I was shocked to find that I couldn't use tethering anymore. However, as confirmed above, prepaid users will have access to the "full" APNs :)
