Basically got the w995a on monday , tonight it fails to connect to the local wifi at home, I turn it off and try to turn it back on, after a few minutes the phone then lets me turn it on again. At which point it tinds no XT network, and tells me I have to insert eh correct sim.....? I figure the batt must be low, so plug int he charger and the phone tells me it won't charge because the battery is not an original SE battery, which it is!!!!

So 2 days in and I now have an unconnectable, unchargable brick!!!!
Pissed off both with SE and XT right now, and unfortunately i have no other phone to try to test the SIM card on, so Im stuck till tomorrow afternoon when im able to make it to the XT store to complain.

Any suggestions on what to do next? Or has anyone had similar problems?

Remove the battery, wait five minutes, and try again.

Thanks, unfortunatley tried it, and no dice.

Removed battery and the sim card, waited and then put them back in. Spoke to Telcom *123 who said I have to take the phone into the dealer tomorrow, with the fault being either the sim or the phone. The rather helpful guy on the phone also said he'll launch a technical support enquiry to escalate an investigation with their support team.

sigh, so im mobile-less till tomorrow, guess i can still play tetris on my okta touch till then :-)

How long was the initial charge? These sorts of issues can arise when the initial charge hasn't been long enough.

Phew... I though he was go to launch a full nuclear attack on your phone.

Anyway, three days old, if there's a problem they should offer to replace it. Don't delay, the older the handset is, smaller are your chances of getting a quick replacement.

That's a decent charge. 3 days, Pretty rough alright, they should do the right thing and replace immediately.

Took the phone in this morning, sim tested fine, but phone still not charging and they even tried a new SE battery.
I asked for a new phone as basically after 2 1/2 days thers no way a new phone should pack up, but they said they have to send away all phones to the repair ppl to check for software/early product fail/or water damage!!
Basically Im assuming Im gonna get a call saying the phone is moisture damaged and therefore not under warranty.... whenever moisture damage is mentioned I immediately assume that will be the reason for not replacing/repairing the phone (as generally with ppl I know this has been their experiences with faulty phones).

So Im stuck with the awful samsung bebo phone as a loaner for the next 2 weeks till i get the other one back, not impressed XT , not impressed. no other consumer good I know of that dies after 2-3 days is sent for repair and not replaced immediately with a new product.

So again, not happy with XT service here at all, no replacement phone just a "repair".
Have a feeling I may be approaching consumer awareness or commerce commission or whoever it is if Im stung with repairs for no fault of my own.

Ok, for the sake of truthfulness around

1.You did not drop your phone?
2.You did not drop your phone in water?
3.You did not use your phone while walking under the rain?

nope, Im kinda fussy about my phones for the first few months, I tend to leave them inside or at home if its raining.
The phone only came with me from home to work (a hospital, where it sits on a desk for the day till i go home) and home again. If I had have dropped it, splashed it, thrown it in frustration (lol) I would quite happily go along with what has happened. But seeing that its been my baby for the past few days I'm a lil grumpy bout it.

And I cancelled my bebo account months ago :-)

If they don't fix it properly, claim under the CGA that its not fit for purpose, has not lasted a reasonable period of time, or something to that effect (hey if it doesn't charge then it doesn't do what it says it does!). You have the right to a full refund/replacement/repair and if they can't repair it don't let them push you around!
You have a dud phone, I've had 4 SE phones over the past 4 years and they've caused me almost zero problems (1 keypad malfunctioned after a year).
In my experience SE phones are pretty sturdy.

I had a similar thing about a year ago with my Nokia 6235, basically it would start fine, recive txt and phone calls fine but it was stuck in Handset Mode so phone calls rang but not through the phones speaker. The guys at Leading Edge tried to pin it on water damage. I told them its never been out in the rain. I suspect it is a standard thing they try to blame it on. In the end it was determined that the phone was stuffed and i got a new one (original was only 4 months old)

Also on a similar note, i learnt that some nokia phones have a White dot under the battery when purchased brand new, if water gets into the phone (or onto the white dot) then it changes to Red. A simple way for the techs to see if water damage has occured. (not so cool if you live in a humid part of the world though!!)
