Hi All,

Just setup my 3GS on XT network and everything is working sweet xcept sending email.

my email is netsmart and the outgoing server on my desktop is smtp.xtra.co.nz

After reading all the searched forum posts I could find I've currently got my outgoing mail server as following.

Primary server send.xtra.co.nz
server is ON
Host name send.xtra.co.nz
user name left optional
password left optional
SSL is ON
Authentication password is selected with a tick
server port 465

didn't previouslay have a data plan until today but don't think this is an issue as should go out on casual data rates until plan kicks in ??

I've gone wrong somewhere but can't see where ..... it will be obvious I know. Should the primary server and host name be the same ??

Also nearly forgot to add have changed the APN to internet.telecom.co.nz

Cheers

Hi there

Did you get an answer or any help on this? If so can you share? I have exactly the same thing going on. I've tried both "send" settings given to me by Telecom but no luck.

Hi Technoddy,

Yeah I did, I posted this in the MAC OS forum as well and got replies there: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=76&topicid=38348

Basically if you are using xtra as your outgoing mail server you have add and verify your domain name email address to the xtra account you or your company are using. To do this you need a valid xtra email address and password. My company doesn't actively use xtra email accounts for mail so I had to ring telecom data and get it ... had to change the password as part of the process.

Links to a very good step by step instruction to verify your domain name email address on the xtra account are in the other topic. http://www.nzconnection.net/Xtra_Email_(@xtra)_settings

Good luck - let me know if you have any more trouble after trying all this.

Cheers

Toby
