Hi all

Further to my naïve question thread, can I ask the Samsung Owners Group (SOG) to try and help me love my 8300….

I’ve come from a lowly Sanyo 8400 to the S8300 but man, I SERIOUSLY miss the Sanyo’s ease of use and easy to navigate operating system!

Here are my issues (and this may be an ongoing thread!) (sorry for the following in caps – I’ve been drafting this in word at work and can’t be arsed to retype it):

  1. NUMBER OF BUTTON PUSHES TO GET TO THE NUMBERS WHEN TXTING! ALL THE EXTRA NONSENSE CHARACTERS ARE DRIVING ME NUTS! E.G. 11 CLICKS TO GET TO THE ZERO! 8 CLICKS TO GET TO THE 3! (WHY DO I NEED A TRIANGLE SYMBOL ANYWAY????? ARGH! THERE SEEMS TO AN INORDINATE NUMBER OF USELESS SYMBOLS!

  1. SETTING SCHEDULES IN MY CALENDAR – SEEMS I HAVE TO SET THE TONE WITH EVERY! SINGLE! ITEM! – WHY CAN’T I JUST SET A BLANKET TONE FOR ALL CALENDAR/ALARM ITEMS??? YES IT HAS A DEFAULT SETTING BUT WHY CAN’T +I+ CHOOSE A BLANKET DEFAULT SETTING?

  1. LIMITED NUMBER OF TXTS STORABLE – I APPARENTLY HAVE 70MB OF INTERNAL STORAGE BUT ROOM FOR 2000 (!!) CONTACTS! I AM SICK OF HAVING TO DELETE TXTS ALL THE TIME AS IT TELLS ME I HAVE TO…I HAVE FOLDERS SET UP FOR SOME TXTS I’D LIKE TO KEEP AT LEAST FOR A WHILE BUT THIS CONTUNUAL DELETING IS RIDICULOUS – MY FRIENDS NOKIA E75 HAS ABOUT 2000 TEXTS IN IT! (I DON’T NEED **THAT** MUCH ROOM BUT IT WOULD EASE MY DISLIKE!) AND THE E75 ONLY HAS 50MB INTERNAL STORAGE! I DO HAVE A MICRO SD CARD INSTALLED – CAN I  TELL THE PHONE TO SAVE MY TEXTS THERE BY ANY CHANCE?

I’M JUST GETTING WARMED UP HERE……J

THE WOW FACTOR OF THE CAMERA (QUITE GOOD AS IT IS) IS **NOT** MAKING UP FOR THE OTHER STUFF – I SHOULD HAVE GONE WITH THE SONY ERICSSON W995a WITH AN EQUAL SIZED CAMERA AND MORE INTERNAL MEMORY BUT  $300 CHEAPER!

Cheers all

Shane

What, you didn't notice you were writing in caps?  Your sentiments towards retyping it echo my sentiments towards reading it.

I have the same phone,

To fix your first prob just hold the button down to get the number, only one long click then.

I have not really used the calender function that much, but have no problems when I have used it, I have never actually changed the alarm tone, it just works for me, install a schedule and chose if alarm is on or not and thats it.

I fully agree with you on the 3rd prob! It drives me insane, I have had multiple phones that when txt message inbox is full it just deletes the oldest txt and receives any new one. I hate having to manually delete all txts.

I also find it very slow to load any photos, small annoyance there. also find the battery shocking! struggles to last all day, making maybe one phone call, sending a few txts, possibly check e-mails.

I dont think i hate the phone as much as you haha, but have got used to yet, and now accept it as it is as i cant afford to change phones.

Cheers JohnK - appreciate your reply!

cheers re the button press!

and agree wholeheartedly re the battery - i thought i must have mischarged it on the first night as I have to pretty much recharge every day! I thought it was operator error (normally quite likely) but it seems it's just the phone.

thanks!

S

ps and I **am** coming to terms with it.....sloooowly! :-)

ha, yeah mine was strugling to last more than a few hours, but took it to telecom and they did a hard restart on it, and since then it is lasting a bit longer

i do like the camera though :) it takes pretty good pics, i also use the slo-mo camcorder when im bored.

love the screen when watching videos on it.

Have you tried going into a Telecom Store and asking them to spend 15-20mins going through the phone with you? They should be able to help.

Shaggie: SHAME!

It's a convention that when you are sending an electronic message (where the recipient can't see your facial expressions or hear your voice) anything in capitals is the equivalent of SHOUTING.

So please stop writing all in capitals because as posted before it's annoying to read, and conveys the wrong impression - that is if you want to be taken seriously.
