Got a wonderful surprise this morning when my Harrier now displays EV. Long awaited I eagerly logged in but then to my dismay the EV changed to 1X? I logged off and it now displays EV again. Am I impatient?

When I was logged on this morning I didnt really notice any increase in speed, so wonder, how do I speedtest my Harrier?
Cheers
Sam

EVDO is being rolled out to all major towns and cities by Xmas. Obviously they cant install and switch on the whole country on 24th december, so they are getting the gear installed now and performing testing and tweaks.

It seems lots of places are predominantly providing an EVDO signal, but when you actually log on, you are still logging on the 1X network.

Be patient my son.

I notice today that the EVDO signal seems to come and go so I guess this is just the start. Waiting patiently ;)

What I dont understand is what sort of priority they gave for rolling out EVDO nationwide. About a month ago I was in Napier, they had it. Last week I was in Rotorua, they had it. Now not to say that those 2 examples are not any more needier than us Waikato folk I foolishly thought that Hamilton, a far larger city would have had more priority purely because of location (close to jafa land) and our size. Just goes to show - size doesn't matter.

I doubt its anything to do with 'who do we get online first', and probably more to do with logistics (what contractors are available where, and when etc)

EV-DO is definately live in Napier, We use the Qualcomm PCMCIA cards and they are now both reciving an EV-DO signal (which they have been for a little while) and now also connecting to EV-DO
