Early October for device specific replacements, and October 28th for all newly connected devices in addition to replacements. All customers can request a free SIMv2 replacement at any Telecom store or Dealer.

IMSI is the International Mobile Subscriber Identity.  As users, we don't gain much from this.

IIRC is common parlance for "if I recall correctly".

people using telecom branded phones found the following issues were resolved with sim v2,
double up of contacts stopped occuring, the phone would "lock" to the cell site faster and would not drift off or drop off, when phone lost reception and there was a voda signal would not try to connect to the voda site ( Roam )
There were reports back that the signal improved. I believe that anyone that has a sim 1 will receive a software upgrade via a network transmission (over the air upgrsde ) to version 3. The v3 is to improve the app and update the roaming list, so i am told. Updates to V3 supposed to start as of 5th

As far as I know V3 cannot be applied over the air to a V1 sim.

The different version of XT SIM relate to the management of the Roaming Application that handles the DUAL IMSI's on the SIM card..

We found that in some marginal coverage situations, some handsets did not like the first version of the roaming application. As the SIM over the air platform was delayed, rather than upgrade all the handsets that were experiencing problems it was easier to replace the SIM cards with one that had a newer version of the application.

Each version of the application improves the management of the dual IMSI application. All SIM versions are able to have the Roaming Applcation upgraded over the air. The latest version of the application contains a cure for cancer.

***Note*** One of the statements above is not true.
