Hi all, will contracts be able to be broken with Telecom since they are shutting down bigtime? Will we be let out of remaining time on the contract we currently have with them?  Just curious if anyone knows for sure..
cheers

According to information posted here on GZ and elsewhere Customers who wish to leave Telecom Boradband can leave without paying a termination charge. The letter that is being sent out will confirm this apparently.

This seems like a suitable thread to add this question/statement..

When we signed up for Total Home Lite + Big Time (back when BT first launched) it was $80 (Auckland) + $20 for BT upgrade/addon. So $100/month, this is what we are paying currently.

However, looking at the Total Home "Compare plans" page now, I see they increased the prices awhile ago for the Total Home variations and add-ons.

My question is now when/if we switched to Pro after BT closes would we be paying $20 more a month, ie: right now the Pro addon for Total Home Lite is +$40, so Total Home Lite + Pro would be $120/month....

I guess I need to wait and see what this letter says, but I can't see many Big Time users sticking with Telecom especially if they are on the initial Total Home Lite + BT pricing.

According to posts in the topic in Telecom Forum you can break your contract for free and keep the free modem.

I don't beleive any of the Total Home, Lite or Starter bolt ons have changed price.

I will find out for you when I am back in front of my Pc, rather than from my phone!

I think when BT first came out Total Home Starter didn't exist and the BT addon for Total Home Lite was the same price as the Adventure addon.

I think you may be right that the Pro addon to Total Home Lite hasn't changed.

In our case we used about 80-200 GB varying per month on BT in the last 6 months or so.

Anyway we look at it, having to pay $20 more per month and try stay below only 40GB else pay $2 per GB is unappealing.

I think a lot of people are looking at Slingshot Just Broadband and Xnet Fusion Torrential right now.
