I am looking to get some clarification of the  impact of the EVDO shutdown. My wifes parents have been travelling in a caravan using a Sierra Wireless W597. Their contract expires in February 2011. I have made some enquiries on their behalf. The information that has been given in respect to the likely slow down in speed varies from virtually none to a usable download spead of 40 to 50kb. I would appreciate any help as to what the actual slow down in speed will be.

The other option the Telecom shop gave is to sign up to a new contract on XT. They are not keen to sign a new contract as they may not have a need for mobile Data past the middle of next year,
