I am a long time reader here but a first time poster. I am posting as I am pulling my hair out and the brains here may know the solution to my problem.

I have a Nokia N85 which I am happily using on XT but it has suddenly developed an aversion to charging! I plug it in and it shows as charging for a couple of moments then stops and tells me to unplug the charger to save power. This happens with the original charger, an aftermarket one I purchased, the USB charger from the computer and also the car charger!! I can occasionally get a part charge from one or other option but it not a full charge and it is stressing me out! Is my problem terminal? Has anyone had the same problem? Does it have a remedy? I love my N85 and have only had it for a year and do not want to replace it just yet! HELP!

How long does the part charge last? I find that sometimes the battery level doesn't update on mine and says empty even though it's been on charging overnight...

If it is within the year and is a Telecom purchased N85 then get it sent to Nokia Care for assessment under warranty.

It is just outside a year and was not a Telecom purchase (who would have paid Telecom prices for these? - they are good phones but $1500.00????)

I see online it appears to be a common problem with the N85 but cannot see a solution just people saying thay have the problem - where can I take it to be serviced - who are the Nokia agents in Wellington?

I am not sure how long it lasts as the problem has only been apparent a couple of days - my problem is I am going away and now have to buy something to replace it for the duration of my trip away - :-(

There's no official Nokia repair agent in Wellington.

A dud battery?
You could also try a hard reset (will erase all - be warned):
- power off
- power on whilst holding all three * 3 [green] buttons
- keep holding until initial setup screen appears

When I killed the charging in my nokia 1100 by plugging in the wrong adapter, I got a universal li-po charger from the dollar store for $3.90 - it has USB on one end and a couple of metal fangs on the other to put on the contacts of a li-po battery - hell slow but gets the job done (3 hours for the 700mAh 1100 battery)
