Two days ago we lost our broadband connection we have a Thomson TG585V7 the one that telecom supplied us with. We had no Broadband and no internet light we are unsure why this is as we haven't changed anything.

So we tried restarting it and that didn't work and we tried the reset when you push the button in with a pin no luck still. we contacted telecom xtra which is our isp and they say they are getting a technician on to it.

Today we get a broadband light but now we can't connect as it says "authentication failed"  so we get the user name and password reset and still no luck. Xtra says its a problem on there end and they they need to send some setting's though but don't know how long that will take.

We have also tried disconnecting everything but the router still no joy. everything connected to the phone jacks is connected via filter. Thomson Router , Wireless land line phone , Fax phone
We have 2 laptops connected via Wifi one runs windows vista home and the other runs windows 7 ultimate.

Very upset customer here can anyone offer me some (Helpfull) advise please.

Sounds like you've done everything you could. Keep harassing Telecom until you get a resolution. Not fun to be cut off from the interwebs! Good luck.

when you pushed that reset pinhole button you have wiped all your authentication details and prob a few other details as well.

If you got a CD with the routher/modem you may need to use that again to set up your details if you don't know how to do it manually.

You don't need to change the username and password for these modems to connect from the default settings.

I know you now have an ADSL light, but has a tech actually come out to site, or contacted you yet?

They connected us via telephone.
Here is something else that is interesting the Land line works but when I do a faulty line test using Telecom service express (0800 000 000) the system says "Your line appears to be faulty" to report the fault to someone at Telecom press '0'.
We have already told Telecom faults about this problem .

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

I don't know because I didn't answer the call as I was out.
