For a wee while now have had the problem that if I made calls or people rang me (National or Local), I would be able to hear the fine... but they would have trouble hearing me.  We dont have our tolls with Telecom, but figured must be something in our line setup for it to impact all calls.  This is also in a new House build.

A few years back Telecom did something to improve it marginally ... but  recently it had gotten quite bad again.

Telecom were out today and apparently they increased the gain on the outgoing voice (?) ... or something to that effect.

Anyway, net result is that our internet speed has suddenly today gone from a pretty constant 8000 kbps download to now being 10500 kpbs.

Time will tell if the voice quality improves ... but could go VOIP at this rate :)

Sounds like you may have been on the incorrect line profile all along, or had previously logged a fault for unstable DSL sync whereby someone at faults would have tweaked your SNR to give you a more stable connection.

You certainly don't need 10mbps for VoIP ;)

But yes, I've just moved and ditched the telecom phone and gone with Naked DSL with Maxnet and WxC VFX for voice, works well.

Naaa, that happened a few months back.  Went from a 2Mb connection (we are semi rural), to 8Mb as a result of that (the cabinet is quite close) ... but the current 10Mb has occurred in the space of an afternoon.

When you say "close" how far do you mean? Assuming you're within 2km you should still be getting sync rates and speeds higher than that.

Would be 1.7km from our gate to the cabinet.
