is this a good device? I did some research on the internet and it's getting mixed reviews. I would appreciate any comments about it :)

It is good, if you like the Palm OS. And most people like how easy to use it is, with one hand. These days I am more inclined to use Windows Mobile Pocket PC devices though.

Also, the Treo 650 connects via CDMA 1x only, not CDMA EVDO. The Apache Pocket PC is much faster in this aspect.

Mainly to check my emails, syncronize my calendar, contacts and notes with my notebook.

The Treo650 should be able to do all that quite nicely over USB. Check first though, to save grief.

Vodafone's Treo650 is GPRS only however. That means sloooooow network connections. It works, but you're not going to like it. I saw that Telecom has the Treo650 as well. CDMA 1xRTT isn't the fastest thing in the world, but much nicer to use than GPRS.

just two questions,

1- Can it be synchronized via Bluetooth? (since it's Bluetooth capable)

2- Can it be on a prepaid plan?

No its not available on prepaid.

But why would you do that? You cant get mobile data on prepaid, so no checking emails....

I would assume you could sync it via bluetooth but im not sure what you would sync it with.

You would be better going for an Apache it syncs with Outlook. I prefer the form factor of the Apache. Its a fantastic device

Yes on 1 - Hotsynch works over Bluetooth and 2 as well; I would imagine if you get a Vodafone Treo 650, you can put it on Prepaid.

Interesting that. I thought they'd put just about anything on prepaid if you gave them a number and esn. In theory you should still be able to buy a unit outright (at a rather costly figure no doubt), and then just sign it up on prepaid.

Altho from memory prepaid and data are a bit troublesome but it's been a while since I played on the prepay side of things.

Yeah there are problems there. I tried getting a harrier on prepaid but they wouldnt let me as there is no prepaid billing system for data.

Having said that theres no reason you couldnt attach a postpaid data account to the phone.... as call and data billing are seperate. Hmm
