Instant question , can you get on www.dicksmith.co.nz ? and what isp are you with?

I dont know if this specific to telecom or not most of the time my internet works but i keep having connection issues

yahoo answer pages loading in plain text with no graphics

text on sites saying no data recieved or similar where adverts should be

and right now if i try to get on www.dicksmith.co.nz using chrome

i get,
No data receivedUnable to load the webpage because the server sent no data. Here are some suggestions:
  • Reload this webpage later.
  • Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data
I cannot connect to it using opera on the laptop either, Initially i thought all these problems were just google chrome but now i am not so sure. Reset modem , cleared history etc, left all phone connections in house unplugged for 10 minutes still can't get on the dam site. 'Obviously this website works, so does trademe and most others.

The site down for everyone or just me says dicksmith.co.nz is up
http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/www.dicksmith.co.nz

so , what the hey..

Update oh give me a break:  Cry http://www5.picturepush.com/photo/a/6953828/img/6953828.jpg

A friend on Telecom is having the same issue so it seems to be more widespread than just one person. I suspect that my friend is using Telecom's DNS but I can't confirm that.

On Telecom also. Can't load youtube, and dicksmith doesn't work either. Tried both Google dns and the standard Telecom one

Edit: Just noticed embedded youtube videos work fine. Very confusing problem

Good to know it's not just me. Im using Telecom's dns.

I had similar issues on and off a few weeks ago.

Youtube seems to work fine for me. Although it does seem to load slower in general than it did several months ago.

EDIT: youtube was fine a few minutes ago, now I cant access it Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE)
EDIT 2: and now i can access youtube again, oh well something is going on

Same problems here on my TNZ connection, using TNZ DNS of 202.27.158.40 and 202.27.156.72

DSE never loads, and youtube has the error aboves when using chrome. Yahoo answers works fine.

Yeah I noticed this Thursday or Friday. I can't get to www.bbc.co.uk/news  or dse.co.nz. I can get to guardian.co.uk and facebook seems ok, they used to be affected by the dodgy proxy Telecom fixed a while back. Looks like a similar problem but affecting other sites now.

The friend that I mentioned earlier just called faults, only to be told that it's a known issue (despite the Telecom site saying "all clear").

The dick smith site is hosted in Aussie so this smells like a transparent proxy issue. I have noticed a few issues with international websites today also.

If the site supports it change to https:// instead of http://

Also make sure you report these to Telecom so they know about it.

Fastest least annoying way to report issues is via:
http://telecom.custhelp.com/app/ask

Crap .. I think I have bigger problems that that. My http's have disappeared. Was set up years ago and have never had a problem..and thanks to you Ragnor I have just realized there are none at all showing on my addy line now. The only change since I saw it last was my downloading a new FF the other day. :?

On the initial problem reported here.. it seems to be fixed now. Thanks to whoever was reading this and did something.
