I am a huge fan of Geekzone in general, and @Freitasm in particular. Clearly a lot of thought and insight into human nature has gone into this site. As a result, it is by far the best of its kind that I have ever experienced. I feel it is a privilege to be a member.

But no-one gets everything right. Now there seems to be a filter of some kind that blocks any post with less than several pointless words in the title. The idiot AI assumes that if you don't use a lot of unnecessary words, it must not be 'meaningful'.

I come from a journalism background where the ability to capture the essence of an article in a succinct two or three-word caption is prized. I have struggled with this previously on Geekzone and I readily admit that my headings do not always convey sufficient information and I am making an effort to do better. But I don't think this new filter is helping things. I just made a new post entitled 'Hong Kong' in the first instance. It is in the politics thread. Everyone who reads the politics thread will be well-aware of current happenings in that city. The meaning comes from context. It doesn't always have to be spelled out in dreary detail.

Okay, rant over. That filter just really annoys me.

I see my Hong Kong thread has now been locked. I have no wish to pursue this further and accept the judgement of the boss. I hope the thread can be resurrected in some form because I think the subject is important and is separate from the caption issue I complained about.

While "Hong Kong" would have been easy to figure out at this point in time - in a year or two it would have been ambiguous

Also makes it hard to categorize for search engine

Perhaps "Hong Kong Protests 2019" would have been just as succinct, but including more info

That is a good point. I hadn't thought of it. I was only thinking of what is happening right now. My objection was that the filter just seemed to be reacting to a simple word count, as if two or three words could not possibly be meaningful. But what you say makes sense. Anyway, I am over it. I was just a little irritated.

As above.

I get fed up with subjects "Help" or "Lower Hutt" - when the second shoukd be something like "Service down in Lower Hutt" or something more meaningful.

People will only open a topic if it is worthy of their time. People seeking help or discussion on something but don't putting a meaningful subject aren't helping themselves.

The current world hates click-bait and journalism headlines so much now for that very reason.

Like suggested. If I/we have to click something to find out what it's _really_ about. It's usually skipped.

Especially when they show in the 'discussions' quick view with no weight and no topic area listed. (yes, I'm aware politics is filtered out, and more than happy for it to be)
