It appears that your original embed is malformed, but ignoring that, I suspect that <iframe> elements are removed when posting (which makes a lot of sense). Edits/quotes would presumably need to scan through the HTML and convert the iframe back into forum markup, which probably isn't a priority.

You're also using it wrong.
You need to add the end part of the URL encased in the YouTube tag.

Also, we really don't want to deal with the trainwreck of people quoting YouTube videos over and over again. As for the editing aspect it is because the YouTube tag embeds an iframe into your post server-side. Now, it'll be a massive security risk if somebody were to add an iframe themselves.
It is pretty simple to just add the YouTube tag in again.
