I came here wanting to ask a question about PDAs, specifically Palm, but PDAs in general too. The forum isn't really well set up for people to ask general questions, the forum structure is very rigid. It keeps things compartmentalised, and probably discourages mixing and community. That's just my view, having not spent a lot of time here, and it's probably the reason I haven't spend much time here.

Has there ever been a suggestion to add a few general forums? Like in the PDA section just add a general section? Most forums would probably do it with a main PDA forum, then subforums, but the forum software here's a bit odd.

timmmay:  but the forum software here's a bit odd.

No, no the software is not odd - the configuration may be...

But in fact we do have some off topic forums, a general forum and technology specifc forum. I see you asked about specific Palm models, so the Palm forum was ideal for you - no need to change.

Perhaps a more generic PDA question - not related to any specific technology - should go into the IT Pro forum?

I modified my PDA question somewhat to go into that forum. I'll go start a thread in IT pro, thanks.

Oh, another comment - not sure you need so many forums. I'm a member of quite a few forums, the more compact they keep the forum structure the better the community that evolves, usually.

We receive many requests for forums and we deny a lot. From time to time we consolidate some, but sometimes the discussions really need somewhere to live...

If the categories were more broad you'd probably get less requests for new forums :)
