Hello folks... We will have a scheduled outage this Friday 19 Feb 2010 that can last for a couple of hours. It should start about 6pm. Go outside have a beer or coffee.

Are you trying to compete with telecom XT and if so, will you be paying compensation?

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Nope. Notice this is a planned outage and we are giving plenty of advanced warning.

No compensations issue - and you are using a free service anyway. Unless you feel like you want something more then you should really subscribe to Geekzone.

Cool, thanks for the heads up. Good opportunity to spend time with IRL family...

I'm not sure why this hasn't already been asked, but why 6pm? Isn't that one of the busiest times for internet traffic? Why not make it off peak, say 4am when no one will notice? (at least NZ traffic as i know 50% of your traffic is off shore) Just curious...

Our busiest day/time is Wednesday 12pm. Friday is easy going - people are out having fun. Why not 4am? Because I do things myself and I am not keen on getting up at 4am to do this.

I see you have the whole GeekZone team there.

EDIT: In the water that is.

Well, this was done - but it took a few hours more than planned. I wanted to change some virtual HD file sizes and defragment those on the physical server.

It's done, and interestingly enough, keeping all the VMs with the same RAM after the defragmentation we now have 10% additional free RAM on the physical server.

Sorry for the incovenience, but it had to be done. Back to normal, nothing to see here folks.
