Hot on the heals of BigHammer's recent promotion, and because rscole86, scottpalmer and sbiddle are crap at being moderators, Gavin (xpd) is now one of the mod team.

Congrats on the promotion!

Hmmm, with this rapid increase in the ruling force one has to ask; quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

To save everyone else googling, this defines the above as: "literally translated as "Who will guard the guards themselves?" Also sometimes rendered as "Who watches the watchmen?""

I'm sure there won't be any issues . . .

Bahahaha

xpd - great news.

Phaedrus - the answer to your question is The Supreme Bean - BDFL."

The fact that scottjpalmer had to Google your question helps nate's point... Laughing

In Soviet Russia, users don't get promoted to moderators, the moderators get promoted to people.

We try to keep this a "family show" and make sure people follow the FUG. We don't need an army of moderatos to keep things running, but even though there are people with certain "powers" I see them as a way to get fresh ideas and feedback. Most of the features added to the site are done after consulting the moderators - which in this case act more like advisors than a police force.

Since you quoted Latin, think about the Roman Republic and the Senate of the Roman Republic. Think of me as a Consul and the moderators as Senators.

From time to time we need to "refresh" the people in our team and I go looking for people who have participated in the community to join the moderators team.

Welcome to xpd!

Dratsab:
classic wit!!

Marcus, oops I mean Mauricio , I'll dig out my copy of Gibbons but I would definately see you as a cut above a mere consul! Just let us know when you're going to start your Meditations  All hail!

Note to mods; please find a tongue-in-cheek smiley...
