Sometimes while browsing GZ I will jump directly to the last page of a thread to read the latest. I've found that occasionally it will say there are, as an example, 31 posts in the thread so it will list three pages. However when going to page 3 there will be no posts as there are infact only 30 posts. I wondered if this was due to a post being removed in between loading New Forum Posts and clicking the link. However I saw it again tonight while going to a thread I had just posted in a minute earlier so I know no posts were missing.

Example (GZ Pizza Evening Thread which lists 31 replies):

New Posts

Page 3 links to:

Page

Now I'm pretty good at missing obvious discussions so I may have missed one about this already, if so apologies.

It happens when posts are removed... but the post counter just counts and so we end up with:

Number of posts posted in thread history > Number of publicly shown posts

I say publicly because it might be different to how mods see it.

This has happened pretty much since ever, sometimes when you get email notifications they link to a blank page also because of the same issue.

Mauricio would probably have a better answer, but that's my understanding of it.

I was curious as to whether that might be the case but in the above mentioned example I'm sure all the posts were still there as I had just read the thread and posted in it. Before I posted there were 29 posts, when I posted it became 30 but the post counter said 31?

Should "Number of posts posted in thread history __ Number of publicly shown posts" in this case??

Thats what I would have thought too.

If a user hides a post then number is correctly updated. Sometimes something happens and it's not (I know where it's happening just didn't fix it).

We can "fix" individual threads or update everything. Something we can do now and then.

I just came across the problem again and i think you have some bad logic in your code.

just posted in the *NEW* Total Home Broadband Account forum and it tells me their is 181 replies and seen as their is 15 posts per page, 180 /15 = 12 so the 181th post would sit on the 13th page. But its not the case because on the first page their are 16 posts(the original post + 15 replies) so the 181th post is only on the 12th page.

Hope that makes sense

it might make it clearer if i say their are 180 replies + 1 post but the code is reporting them as 181 replies?
