Why has the search changed to a "What are you doing?" button?

I know i'm probably just being lazy but it's an extra click to get to the search now haha

The "What are you doing" has been always there. It shares your status, announcements with your Geekzone Friends.

The Google Search box was another box. It was removed because that was created by a script. Using a page for search saves YOU time on page load, making the site faster, becase the script is not longer loaded for every page.

This was discussed back in July: www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=4&topicid=87053

My last status update:

"Keep thinking this is the search box!" on 5-Oct-2011 12:58

Haha!

I'm not sure if this is just happening to me, but the cursor doesn't autofocus on the search input field automatically when you click on the search page.

Is this standard behaviour?
If so, could it be set to always focus in the search text field automatically after clicking on the search page?

Thanks! :-)

Once it does focus, it loses the Google custom search logo in the background?
Might be part of the agreement to use the Google search?

I vote to have the search box at the top of the screen rather than the 'What are you doing?' box.

I agree, was never a fan of kittens haha.

Where does the info that you put into the 'What are you doing?' box end up anyway?

Ahh, good point. Never thought of that.
Would be nice if it's possible though. Maybe a Google logo just above the search box?

If you see any errors you should let us know so we can find the problem.

You can disable the "What are you doing" box in your profile.

The search box in all pages won't be coming back.
