June i recieved a letter from Baycorp outsanding debt with Telstra $1100, so io called Telstra and told it was for non return of equipment, so i told them what had happend and they advised me to drop the gear at the wellington office and get a recipt and they will sort it.. did this

Now i have an outstanding amount of $250 with baycorp for collection costs, is this fair? i tried many times to  return the equipment telestra tell baycorp the amount stands

It is New Zealand's role to send out its bright young men and women to help run the rest of the world. And they go, not hating the country of their birth, but loving it. From this loving base they make their mark on the world.

Telstraclear has a contract with Baycorp for the provision of debt collection services. You, on the other hand, don't have any direct relationship with Baycorp. Therefore liability for the collection costs lies with Telstraclear.

I deal with Baycorp occassionally to collect debts from my own customers and Baycorp's collection costs are always incurred by my company rather than a debtor because the terms and conditions that we have signed with Baycorp obligate us to do so. If Telstraclear are trying to pass that cost onto you then that is disgraceful conduct, and I would suggest that you do not give in to what I consider to be a blatant bullying tactic.
