We're currently on the HFC/Cable network in Wellington, but we're about to move (from Berhampore down the road to Island Bay). I understand that Island Bay cable has some particular problems, but we've largely been pretty happy with cable and keen to shift it to the new property - and before anyone says it, fibre is *years* away. I've confirmed using the address checker that cable is available at the new property. It even looks as though cable has been wired in at some stage - there's a thick black two core cable running in off the street - but I'm not an expert on this.
I've found the moving form on Vodafone's website but I'm not fully clear if this applies to cable or not. If HFC has previously been wired in to the property, do I need to book at tech call out, or can I install the modem myself and just phone up to have it provisioned?
And I'm very *very* keen to keep my current Cisco modem - no technicolor all-in-one-with-no-bridge-mode for me, thanks very much.
