I have a problem where the voice over at the otherside is really loud and the voice would become fuzzy..Its like the sound of wind blowing on the phone. That kinda sound

I wonder if xnet can decrease the volume at their end..

You can change the volume at your end by logging into your device's web interface and changing the gain setting, but this is off topic.  Feel free to PM me.

Well I eagerly checked the xnet site overnight several times as I was working a nightshift. Unfortunately no info on NDSL yet, today is the day isn't it?

Hopefully by the time I get out of bed this afternoon we might have some more info.

You are correct. Cecil (Xnet) earlier in this thread said that the new website will go live today and that we can put in our order for NDSL as well

Yes, today. I do not see it advertised anywhere, so I guess this is the advanced notice for Geekzoners that I've asked for a while back.  No one else knows it's going live today, gives us a chance to get in in front of the queue.

The site will go live this morning Folks. Unfortunately the man in charge of the website lost a loved one over the weekend but we will get it up shortly.

Please be advised that due to constraints in our supplier's provisioning system. The initial launch will be for Xnet customers and new installations. Of course those who are interested but currently with other ISPs, can always order broadband from Xnet and then convert to NDSL after.

Great service from the call centre when I rang them at 8AM.

The only question I have is what's the up to 6 hour DSL outage for?  I already have DSL with you, so I was kind of hoping for a (fairly) seamless cutover.

I can probably answer that as I was told this too. What they are saying is that when Telecom unbundles their POTS service from your line your ADSL could also be out for up to 6 hours as well. until they reconnect it as naked DSL. It probably wont take 6 hours but that is the maximum time it could take to do

We are advising customers of this as the process is now not that simple, it takes a bit of work at the local exchange to connect up a "Naked DSL line" as the Telecom Line component is now removed and the technician on site may require to do some wiring at the house as well, so we are just trying to give a realistic expectation we belive in most cases it should be quicker but other case it may take a few hours to cutover.

Six hours would also include the longest expected time to travel from the exchange to the home (and maybe a second time when they get something wrong).

Wiring at the house is only ever done if you live in an Appartment block or are a business in a multy story building where your phone lines connect to an MDF (Main Distribution frame) out side the building, this is when your telco is required to visit the premises so they can find and tag your phone line from the MDF so that who ever is connecting your NDSL knows which line is your line.
This is done so that there is no confusion or connection to the wrong line (It can happen).
If your in a normal 1,2,3 story house everything is fine unless you have more then one phone going into the premisses, or if you have a granny flat out the back with a phone line in it  then your telco will need to vist to again tag the line.
