Awesome news I'm excited for you, Christmas is coming early lol. I hope mine is tomorrow as it's harder to take time off work at short notice on a Monday. Are you in Wellington ?

New modem will be supplied with the install. I work for Downer as one if the residential install techs and we are currently going through the final training of these new modems. It's a massive job of upgrading the nodes but everything is going to plan, I've been involved in the night work also , changing to the new dcmts and everyone involved is working hard to get this upgrade complete. The uptake I've seen so far is that work is going to get exceptionally busy very quick.

Apparently I'm also on the last month of our current contract, but unfortunately if I take the 12/24mo contract renewal option now to get the 6-months half-price special, I can't upgrade to fibreX unless I break the contract, which sucks (given the value of the contract would increase, albeit only by $10/mo).

For now, I am holding out for the Johnsonville/Raroa nodes to get upgraded. Is there a list anywhere that indicates when it's available for different regions? Or some way of knowing rather than just ringing up every few days? Does the check tool on the website get updated as nodes are upgraded?

I'm not sure what the update cycle for the tool is. I believe it's fair frequent, but I'll go confirm before promising anything :)

Thanks for that, it's good to know. Did you both get the 6 month half-price offer as well?
edit: It's possible that the sales staff didn't have all details on hand - he asked to ring me back with more info and when he rang back that's what he said, but he was a little unsure of other areas too, so whenever it's available at my place I'll ring back and re-enquire.

The rollout won't be complete until before Xmas. Nightly work is still being done to upgrade nodes.

Is this over and above the dcmts upgrade. That has already been done on my node afaik

Just upgraded to the 200/20 plan for roughly $20 cheaper than what I was paying for 100/10. 12 month contract should see me through to when UFB is available in my neighbourhood, so I can make a call then about switching to fibre.

Not too keen on using the Vodafone supplied router, but I can figure that out next week when it's installed. From reading this thread it looks like I may be able to configure my own router (Asus RT-AC66U) to replace the HG659, or perhaps just set it up behind the HG659.

So... @morat, I guess then if looking to saving some cost and upgrade to 200/20 for now, and upgrade to FibreX Max later when my area has become available be possible? Is 200/20 on FibreX as well?
