Ouch. Aren't you just down the road from me? Because it's looking much better at my place:

These speeds were measured an hour apart - I was getting about 25Mbps at 9:30pm, now I'm getting about 75Mbps, like you.

The evening speed dip has followed the same time pattern for the last week.

I realised my mistake shortly after making the post. Working late tonight and completely lost track of the time.

So glad I'm leaving. I can't believe I waited a year hoping it would come right. I couldn't believe how many better deals were out there when I finally had a serious look the other day. I'm doubling my speed and it's eleven bucks less a month without contract.

Patiently waiting for fibre to be available here. So close.

I'll be an old man by the time fiber arrives in Island Bay, but rest assured, if it were here already I would have bailed months ago.

There is the option of fibre for us, but there is little motivation to switch.

If we did switch, then the VF TV recorder would be $15 per month instead of "free". And also the idea of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" comes into play.

Just my two cents though.

I have a great number of friends moving to fibre as well! All of them are beyond excited.

I may be moving house relatively soon myself. My work has offered me a permanent job, and I'm going through the ropes of applying for residency under the Skilled Migrant Category scheme. If all goes well, buying a home of my own is one of the first things on my agenda. :)

When we bought this house one of the conditions while searching for a property was "Can this house be connected to cable".

How far away this seems.

Hah! The times have definitely changed!

But - to Vodafone's credit - we have been compensated incredibly well for our interruptions, and the connection was fantastic all of yesterday. I was getting a solid 130 Mbps at all times, and I didn't experience any fluctuations in latency. Was the work in Island Bay completed, perhaps?

Maybe I'll get to try out Vodafone's upcoming gigabit before I'm ever in a position to switch to fibre. They do still have a chance to win me over instead of just being "that thing we use until there's fibre".

You have been compensated? Lucky you.
