VDSL was scheduled for 4pm tomorrow. Just got an email from VF saying this is now been pushed out to 18/2.  Are they committing to installations before checking with Chorus? Or are we just being bumped for other higher priority customers?

Been on hold for 30min with call centre, so I give up using that avenue to find an answer to this.

Dates come from the installer, Vodafone / Retail service providers pass on the INFO

Customers can't be bumped around for higher priority customers, Job comes in it's assigned

Has to be a valid reason why the installer has moved the date and would not be related to the retail service provider and be pleased you were advised of the change of date before hand

Got through after 36min on hold, and yes that is the response I got.  So its a chorus issue.  None the less, gave feedback on my response email around the length of waiting time to VF.
Oh well, Tuesday it is.

Currently on ADSL with a second modem down the end of the house to increase WiFi coverage so I guess if I went to VDSL I would have to buy a second modem. What options are there?

I'm supposed to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder for me to find one now.

I had vdsl installed on Monday.
It did not go according to 'my' plan. It wasn't the installers fault, he was super helpful.
He hold me that they realistically could only do 4 installs per day.
After mine, if he got in another 2 (or 3), he would have been moving.

At the end of the day:
VDSL - 10 points.
WAF - zero points and making life hell.

Turn the second modem into a WiFi hotspot

I had my Vodafone VDSL installed this week.  It took 7 business days from the day I signed up.  I am very pleased with the process and outcome.

Getting 37 down and 10 up

I don't understand the low WAF score - it's only one RJ45 jackpoint, and to the untrained eye its looks exactly like a phone jackpoint.
A VDSL modem is no uglier than an ADSL modem.
Fibre is another matter - much more conspicuous, and in two places :)

I had Vodafone VDSL installed on Wednesday. Really helpful and friendly Chorus contractor. Installed speed is better than the pre-qual result so happy with it.

Currently showing 23 Down and 8 Up on the modem statistics page but 20 Down and 2 Up on Speedtest.net (Vodafone Auck server). I'm confused why the Up speed is so much slower but its not a critical issue at the moment. I will check back in a few weeks to see if anything changes.

Had a few disconnects the first night but it has settled down now (fingers crossed).

Just one question. I had ADSL before with 15dB Down and 5dB Up attenuation showing in the modem. Now the attenuation is 0dB Down and Up? I'm assuming the modem (HG659) is not reporting it correctly. Any suggestions?

sounds very much the same situation.

as i said to the poster there, it sounds likely that your connection is on a adsl rate plan on vodafones side, which is limiting speed.

once again, vodafone staff would have to confirm this.

as for your atteuation, without a doubt, sounds like the modem missreporting. given 15db on adsl, ild assume about 17~19db. which 23/8 isnt bad for.

Thanks Hio77,

Thanks for the link and I'd agree that the Speedtest results look very similar. I'm not sure why Vodafone would have put it on an ADSL profile as it is a new connection. I'll give them a call.

The installer was also surprised with a 23/8 result as he said I was 850m from the cabinet and 900m is the max for VDSL.

given your attenuation, and real world distance (im assuming hes talking cable and not driven distance) 23/8 is decent.

most ISPs do it, you will find threads or orcon and telecom customers being capped till a profile change on their ISPs side all around.

it is an odd thing to do, ild assume its around congestion control. the fact that its almost exactly 20/2 though is a clear sign. (although with a 23mbit sync your downs arent gonna rise much more till they hit maxing out)

just make sure you attack it from the 8mbit sync, 2mbit throughput angle, 20mbit down on a 23Mbit sync can easily be argued as nothing to be concerned about.

From my observations we change from your current ADSL ISP to ADSL with us then move it to VDSL.
