Still no further progress here; if anything the reverse - been an absolute nightmare today with web pages not loading and e.g. Google taking >1 min to load up...was thinking a dial-up account might be a good interim solution !!

I've sent TCL a Wireshark comparison of a short d/l attempt session both from my home location & from a working TC client just down the road, see if that provides a clue (apart from a huge number of errors, re-tries on "my" trace) - oh and useable downloaded file from the "away" location rather than the corrupted 17MB "virtual paperweight" I get chez nous.

@ bigheadren, any resolution with you?

Still no progress here, in fact the opposite. Access has been an nightmare all day today, web pages failing to load, even Google taking > 1 min

Sent TCL a couple more Wireshark traces Friday, a failed download attempt from home then the same session repeated (with a successful d/l resulting) at a working TC client just down the road.

@bigheadren - any resolution with you?

sorry, duplicate post - first time I hit "Post" it all just hung up; on re-visiting thread didn't look like msg had posted hence second (shorter!) version. Did I see KOL offering a dial-up option on tv last week..?

Yesterday I had lengthy chat with a Telstraclear technician over the phone. He was pretty confident that it was a "packet loss issue", and he changed my IP address and gateway.

I never thought I would say this but I think my problem is finally gone. No trouble loading any webpages and I'm able to stream video again. I'll be keeping a close eye on my connection but so far I'm optimistic.

I hope that helps you Soleil, any updates with your issue?

Well based on what you have said previously there definitely appears to be a packet loss issue no matter which way you look at it. However by changing IP and gateway are they suggesting they have a rouge gateway thats being hammered by something untoward, or just faulty. All seems a bit odd.

@bigheadren, only updates that TCL have tried another couple of things (+ swap modem & + alt IP address). If it were a rogue g/w issue (per cyril17, thx for input) then this should have fixed things as it seems to have with yours. Unfortunately...not here.
Apologies for the delay in updating - even had issues posting replies here as above.

As I've now hijacked 2 threads I had better post an intro too

It does sometimes happen that one interface will simply develop errors for no apparent rason. Sometimes the best you can do is log a ticket with your equipment vendor and hope that they actually comeback with something usefull for you or simply not use that port /interface,

Its interesting how they said that there is not a capacity issue (assuming bandwidth) but yet ICMP packets are being de-prioritised. While ICMP packets are often de-prioritised on some equipment as a measure to fend off some types of DOS attackets, so the switch/router must be handeling a fair few packets per second more than they'd like.

Good to see that the issue appers to have been identified by T/C
