They are shutting down email because they say they cannot control spam etc, so why do you think they will be able to stop it going to your new forward address?

I dont believe cant. Many smaller (and bigger) email hosting services are more than able to.

OK, I now seem to be getting my Clear emails Forwarded to the new address ...

Interestingly, I cannot test this myself because anything I send from my machine, using the new email service, gets rejected because " ... orbs has blacklisted ...".

PS Sending a test email using wife's Clear account definitely gets Forwarded to my new account, but there doesn't appear to be any way of ascertaining that it has been Forwarded (other then its physical presence of course ... which in this instance I know about, but what about if from another source altogether?)

I guess the logic is, if it turns up with old, for example, Clear address, it HAS been Forwarded, and one needs to be careful not to just hit Send without changing the account

I also noticed that my new email service put a couple of Forwarded emails into the Spam Folder, for my inspection and clearance.

Something a lot of people don't get, and I guess Appstv may qualify, is that a fair amount of the detection of malware, spam, etc is a retroactive action. To expect no spam whatsoever is a pipe dream.

I have clients who have commercial mail washing subscriptions to Symantec, Mail Marshall, Trend Micro etc, who still get the rogue emails coming through from time to time. Even others who are using Microsoft Exchange Online (outlook.com), Zoho and Gmail with their own domain names, and I include myself among that group, are not immune.

I get them routinely on my Gmail account. I strongly believe Google themselves play a part. Not so much in the phishing and malware delivery but definitely spam. I Googled 'new york wine merchants' once, looking to order something local for a friend. I now get a regular news letter from New York Vintners. I clicked on a link to Breitbart in an article on one occasion, I now get regular email updates from them. Likewise for Washington Post.

@1101 I think it's a mix of both, can't and won't. Can't, because it's nigh impossible. Won't, because VF is cost cutting. Plain and simple.

There is only 2 solutions here guys....as I wouldnt trust VF to do anything right..if you doubt me just look at all the VF threads here compared to other ISP's...

Ditch VF all together...they dont really deserve your custom.
Change all your emails away from any VF domains ASAP. This forward thing will end up being rubbish..won't last for very long, before it to fails.

Oh dear, oh dear ... my new email service advised me this morning that it had put two suspect emails into my Spam Folder ... all good, I thought.

One was from a magazine subscription I have, and it was Forwarded correctly because I haven't yet told them of my new address.

The other, however, was from Vodafone offering me some (rubbish) about the All Blacks, and also appeared to have been Forwarded because it was addressed to my old Clear address.

Concerning because not only did I tick the box advising of my new email address for Bills, etc, I also went online and changed it in my Account Details several days ago!

You think you have problems. Im showing up in the latest paper phonebook as living at an address I moved out of more than 2 phone books ago ! (so im now showing up twice)!

Phonebook people take data from the ISP. (and yes, I had gone to the section in my account to update the pages listing).
