Does anyone know if HFC customers in Island Bay, Wellington have yet received formal notification?

Not yet so far.
I am now in this boat also as received the email today and will be cut off on the 28th of Feb. Has anyone tried the retention team to get the $30 off Gig? I really don't want to drop Gig for half Gig, that'd be pretty pretty lame.
I should get my A in to G as I don't have an ONT installed.
I am surprised One NZ hasn't made an announcement about this, and declined to comment when this thread started.

Distorter:Chorus unilaterally installed an ONT for us in Newtown. A few years later we had a traffic volume issue with the cable modem - it couldn't keep up with our rangatahi streaming! Had to shift to fibre and have never had a problem.I am now in this boat also as received the email today and will be cut off on the 28th of Feb. Migrated from HFC to fibre on Monday. Replaced a bulky Ultrahub router and separate cable modem with a small single Deco router. Wifi coverage has improved. Deco app is a dream to use compared with ancient user interface of Ultrahub. Couldn't be happier, should have done it years ago.

That's not realistic, they now have to pay Chorus/Enable where HFC was their own network, so you won't be getting the same deal/pricing as HFC, it's just not going to happen.

Someone on Reddit posted this link which gives some detail: https://one.nz/hfcchanges/
The FAQ doesn't mention anything about removing the overhead network but indicates all connections to dwellings are going to be left in place for now

The webpage indicates their Fibre Max plan is eligible for the same $30 discount & $200 credit offer.

My views are as unique as a unicorn riding a unicycle. They do not reflect the opinions of my employer, my cat, or the sentient coffee machine in the break room.

Sounds suspiciously like "until they force us to take it all down, we'll be doing our hardest to keep the costs of this change as low as possible"
I'm still wondering if they're going to take down the cable lines in each street once this is completed, as it's not like the cable network is going to be carrying any traffic anymore.
Fortunately, my HFC cable was originally run along the guttering, with just a small drop attached to a vent pipe before entering the house. I'm just going to pull it through and cut it off at the house/power pole junction, and seal the baseboard hole.
Like others say, hopefully a contractor will uncouple the pole to house span !
Please don't do that. It will create problems for the network. Arrange to have it properly disconnected.
