I'm already on one of those packages, just done in the past few months. I shouldn't need to sign up for anything? Wouldn't it make sense to give out to existing users on the 100 fibre minimum plan, the STB with the intro package to anyone who wants it. So as to build up a userbase

These new packages only launched 2nd May, so you are likely on a different package.

How does an existing FibreX Max customer, get Vodafone TV? All the packages shown from that link you provide is about signing on WITH broadband. BUT I already have broadband.

Apparently its gig OR tv. Not both.

So I'm sticking with my t-boxes for now... they've been going since 2010, although on monday night I had a power supply burn out... one call to VF and Downer had a replacement to me by lunchtime Tuesday.

Yes im on a different package , which has 12 month free neon, thats the only difference vs the same NEW offering which differs only in having the vodafone intro tv and a free prezzy card.

That’s a different package on Sky. Vodafone Intro is ‘Freeview’ which Trackside channels are not available on.

Oh , shame about that.

Plenty of people that dont want to pay Sky just to get the racing channels back. They are streamed on the TAB website but u need a credit balance in an active TAB account to access and they are pretty low quality streams.

But question 2? how do existing users get the intro tv package or the device.

So, you’ll need to give them a call, and presumably sign up to the new package for 12 months or so. Unsure how it will work if you are part way through an existing contract minimum term.

as I said I just updated to a new 100mbit fibre package recently there is NO difference to the new package other than the offered freebees . Would it not make more sense and be more efficient to send out an offer to all current users on the 100mbit fibre that vodafone will supply free of charge or for a small fee anyone that wants the device with the intro package.

This has the benefit of seeding the customer base with the device with followup marketing pushing the additional channel packages.

I did ask Vodafone via facebook still awaiting a reply.

I found the new offering when broken down was actually more expensive than my old plan I tried to resign. Also Old version of the new Vodafone TV was $159 and 2 boxes/2 mobile and this too is gone. Was no option that reduced Sky while staying with the older style Sky boxes now it seems all pushed to the new boxes.

Basic net is $69.99 (Smart Connect inc phone discount) and this is fixed to the $99 option only. In the end I have ditched Sky and replaced with Curiosity Stream (legal docos $4.96 nz per month) and the $69.99 above (offered to me as an even better Retention deal including landline to stay). Most of the sport I watch has legit online options via Twitch, Dreamsports.tv and World Surf League so its just a matter of changing habits rather than channel on a remote.

Ive just been offered a switch to Vodafone TV.

Current:

Fibre 100 unlimited

SKY basic plus sports

Multiroom - Both decoders Mysky

Given the option of 2 x Voda TV boxes, Sky starter plus sport, same plan fibre 100, two range extenders and free sports for the 1st 6 months.

Saving of nearly $70 a month standard months and $100 cheaper the 1st 6 months.

Questions:

1. Does the VF TV box connect wirelessly so the only hardwired cable is power?

2. Is there an app for remote recording?

3. How is the reliability?

1 - No it doesnt have wireless connectivity. Im sure you would need to connect your range extenders in bridged mode to have wireless.

2 - Yep, the Vodafone TV app

3 - Reliability of the TV is very good. No rain fade (which I probably would have had over the last couple of weeks), updates have made the device work faster/better though still a few improvements needed.

4 - Yep, Vodafone TV app is the equivalent of Sky Go. When we first went onto Vodafone TV I found the app really good as you get all of the channels, plus access to your recordings and access to extra movies (though Im only interested in Sport when out and about), however have found the app performance quite poor over the last couple of months as programmes do not start as smoothly and continue to buffer. Just tried it at home on wifi and it took a while to start. Also, once you go to the new VTV packages the Sky Go access is removed

I actually think Vodafone TV is a good product, but still needs a few more improvements. Has some advantages over My Sky, but a few issues as well, such as you cant record some channels/programs due to licencing agreements. Fast forward doesn't show a picture so its a bit of a guess, but you get used to that.

Do I recommend it? Yeah, but people do need to realise it is not My Sky so it works differently. Also, I do work for Vodafone, but my comments are as a consumer. If it didnt work I would have ditched it and gone back to Sky. Have had it more or less since the day it came out and have no plans of going back.
