Something is only worth what someone will pay for it... End of story!

Personally I don't think they are worth .20c So if I have to pay that price I won't send one.

Don't pay for the $10 text addon pack, send 2000 sms and pay $400 on vodafone.

Or

Pay for the $10 text addon pack, send 2000 sms, effectively giving you $400 worth of texts for $10 on vodafone.

If you really want to compare the pricing to 2 degrees, you are still saving up to $180.

I know what the cost is, but is that what it's actually worth?

Thats the most pointless question yet. Do you go into a restaurant and ask what is this food really worth?
Do you do that in the supermarket? They value of a product is dictate by what someone will pay for it.

Plus all this over txts? 160 Characters? An outdated form of communication that is the most expensive in the world on a Kb ratio.

Txting will die a slow death, and we will forget all about it.

I've been on Google talk most of the morning, sent 13710 characters which is 85.6875 txts.. Cost free. Data used 195kb

Maybe everyone should join vodafone so that no one ever needs to call telecom or 2 degrees. Problem solved.

Can we all please join 2 degrees instead? It'd be cheaper.

Only if you send less than 111 txts, and dont use any mobile data at all

Who really cares anyway, I think other people were just saying it's mutton dressed up as lamb.. Do you have shares in Vodafone or something?

Actually I found the analogy quite good. Plus I don't have a back yard.

Anyway, I don't know about anyone else but when I see "Buy $XYZ of sometihng for $ABC" and XYZ is substantially greater than ABC I immediately switch off. Or I analyse it (as I did with the 2 degrees comparison) and find that I disagree with the comparison, and distrust further advertising from the company. Usually I just decide that the initial pricing is excessive and the discounted pricing represents the true cost of the product/service.

Sort of like when you see jewellers advertising 40% off diamond rings, you know that it is usually initially overpriced. How often do you see 40% discounts on new cars?

Look around. A guy in Auckland was offering buy one get one free.
Food in restaurants is waaayyy more expensive than you can get if for, and it is still very very differcult to make money, because people dont see all the hidden costs, that take between 50-80% of your gross turnover.

And not a fan of TCNZ due to their mismangement, and monopolisation of the copper backbone with USED to be part of the SOE, and belonged to all of us, and a much more important issue than MTR's which are just a smokscreen.
No shares in VFNZ at all. They just have been good to me and my business, and IMHO have gone out of their in multiple instances to help me in all manner of ways.

But in saying, As soon as another company can offer the same usage, and the same free toys that go with highish usage (BBStorm, Dell Mini9, Modem etc) at a LOWER price, and the same level of CSR support that I currently enjoy then I'm gone, cos thats business.

But do I think I'm overcharged? No of course not. They offer a service, and if I want to use it, I pay.
Business is a complex beast, and unless you see it for yourself.

Woah this place has turned into a Brawl. if everyone was on Vodafone, things will be cheaper for all of us... It's just some of our mates choose to be on 2D and some like to be on Telecom. I actually feel slightly sorry for those people not being with a established network.

Txt 2000 is def a good deal. Come on guys? And vodafone add more sugar to the icing *mmm, sugar* with Bestmate at $6 for totally unlimited calls, txt's and Videocalls.

I still laugh at Telecom's failure with "Favorites" - Unlimited calling, but if you read down the bottom "Fair Use Policy Applies" - Now we all know what that means from Go Large :/

No it wouldn't be cheaper. Vodafone would then charge whatever they want. No competition means they have not to worry about prices.

Vodafone also applies "Fair Use Policy". According to Google Vodafone uses "Fair Use" words in 174 places in their website. This page on Vodafone says:

"All our Services are subject to this Fair Use Policy. We may apply this Fair Use Policy where in our reasonable opinion your use of our Services is excessive and/or unreasonable as detailed below.

We have developed this Fair Use Policy by reference to average customer profiles and estimated customer use of our Services.

If your use of our Services materially exceeds estimated use patterns over any month, then your use will be excessive and/or unreasonable.

If your use is excessive and/or unreasonable Vodafone may contact you to advise you that your use is in breach of this Fair Use Policy.

We may then request that you stop or alter your use to come within our Fair Use Policy. "

So stop dreaming, wake up and get a reality check.

I understand that Vodafone has a Fair Use Policy in place regarding this. But not once have I seen a customer come back complaining "My bestmate got terminated" or anything like that.

Please can you, and several other people in this thread, return to junior math class and learn how to use decimal places correctly.

The price of a standard text on Vodafone is not 0.20c. It is actually 100 times greater at 20c or $0.20
