Well I went for google TV. Happy with it. After installing Threenow and TVNZ+ apps 8t also supports playing live free to air tv so that's sweet for my needs.

Based on that email, the solution prior to VFTV being shutdown might be a 'new' satellite decoder install with the new 'IPTV' box being available in 2035, the same year when they ban ICE cars :)

Me too and at first I thought it was spam because I had cancelled Sky a few months ago and don’t have it. Wondering why they sent it to me.

There is an interesting detail buried in the article that @rogercruse refers to:
Vodafone spokesperson Richard Llewellyn said its intention was still to turn off Vodafone TV from September 30.

“It is a progressive shutdown of platforms, not a ‘done in a day’ type of closure.

“So, some customers may well be able to continue using it for a period of time, but we not be able to commit to any service quality or support beyond September 30,” he said.

The Sunday Star Times had an article today about Sky Customer Service (you thought Vodas was bad) which said not to expect a Sky box before spring, which spring wasn't clear.

Can anyone confirm what should currently be happening for Sky subscriptions via Vodafone TV?

The previous email communication from Vodafone says my billing should be transferred to Sky direct, and the Sky help pages say I should have received a letter from them telling me how to transfer my billing.

None of those things have happened for me. My Sky billing is still being done by Vodafone (I don't have any other services from Vodafone), and I've had absolutely no communication direct from Sky. Are things just running behind schedule with the whole transfer process (given that the new Sky box has been delayed), or should something have changed by now?

I think if your billing for sky was on your broadband bill then that has been transferred to Sky

If you have a stand alone box and login to vtv.nz then that’s still billed by Vodafone.

You wonder if sky will asking VF to extend the Sept expiry so they don’t loose these subscribers.

I got an email in February 2022 from Sky and from March I now pay Sky direct for the Sky products that are currently delivered through the Vodafone network.

Latest communication from Sky was Jul 6

@prevaljo:The Sunday Star Times had an article today about Sky Customer Service (you thought Vodas was bad) which said not to expect a Sky box before spring, which spring wasn't clear.

Was that this article? https://www.stuff.co.nz/business/129270769/sky-admits-customer-service-falling-short-as-covid-and-tight-labour-market-bite

I have always maintained that while VF's front-line customer service has been in various states of applallingness for quite some time, the Internet product is usually excellent, and cheap if you can get cable. VTV has also been generally reliable for us. Thanks to you Sky subscribers if you are the reason it goes on past September! :-)

I suspect that Vodafone and Spark have enough network assets to enable them to monitor and fix things for their fiber customers better than the smaller ISPs. Doesn't make it any easier to contact either call centre though.

Personally we have had a very annoying intermittent cable fault for a very long time, which Vodafone are now putting some effort into fixing. We might end up spending an extra $25 per month to switch to fibre if they don't fix it though. (Sigh)

Interesting comment reading the article I linked above. Seems it is not so easy to email the Sky CEO. We have the avenue of an email to @JasonParis, which appears to usually set things in motion to get a solution to sticky issues.

Broadband and VOIP for landline. Pay for them separately.  I have the desktop box that replaced the original Vodafone hard drive based recorder.

I hope that Vodafone come to an arrangement with Sky to continue to provide the content through the desktop box until Sky get their own.

I really don't want to have to get a dish ( having removed the one on the house when it appeared that the Vodafone box was providing all the needed content.
